Multigrain Khichdi

Wow here is another super healthy high protein rich dish. The normal khichdi that we make can bore us, so here mixing all the grains in the house and cooking it with some spices to give you a delicious healthy meal. So lets begin.


  • A fist full Orange Dal (Massor Dal Split)
  • a fist full split green grams with skin
  • a fist full split green grams without skin
  • a fist full fat rice
  • a handful tuver dal
  • a handful chana dal (split red grams)
  • a handful peanuts
  • 1 large chopped tomato
  • 1 tbsp ginger chilly paste1 cup chopped carrot. potato and cauliflower
  • Water as required –  if you want it to be saucy add a little more water, measure the above into cups and add double the amount of water, then add 1 cup more.
  • 1 tbsp oil, a tsp mustard seeds, a tsp tumeric powder, a tsp dhana jeera powder and a tsp red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste


  • Get all the grains in a bowl, wash it thoroughly and soak it in water for 10 minutes
  • In a pressure cooker, heat oil, add mustard seeds until they crackle up, add the ginger chilly paste, followed by chopped tomatoes, once the tomatoes melt, add the vegetables
  • Once the vegetables are added, put all the spices, including peanuts, let it cook for 5 minutes, then add the soaked grains, followed by salt again,
  • Pressure on low flme for 3 to 4 whistles. the combination of these grains is scrumptious. A must try. Served with curd, or eaten as it is by adding some ghee.






Vanilla Sponge Cake (wihtout oven)

Feel like having some spongy vanilla cake, here is presenting an eggless recipe of a sponge cake, this cake can be used for icing because the sugar is generally less. It can also be eaten like that. Yummmy to all the sweet tooth lovers lets begin this super easy recipe for vanilla sponge cake.

And it can be baked without an oven, isn’t that interesting.


  • 1 cup Salt for baking
  • 3 tbp butter
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 3/4 cup condensed milk
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 and 1/2  tsp Vinegar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla essence (any flavour can be used)
  • 1 and 1/2 cup Home Baking
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp Baking Powder


  • Add 1 cup of salt in a pressure cooker, cover it with the lid,(remove the whistle), let it heat in medium-high flame.
  • In a mixing bowl, add butter, oil, powdered sugar and whisk for 2 minutes. Once it looks creamy add the condensed milk and start whisking until thick and fluffy (i use my cake mix blender for this)
  • Mix vinegar, vanilla essence with room temperature milk and keep aside for a minute, mean while sieve the flour, baking soda and baking powder
  • Now add half of the milk vinegar mixture to the condensed milk mixture, mix well. add the reamining half gradually mixing it, followed by all the dry ingredients.
  • Mix well ensure there are no lumps. place the batte in a cake tin and place this tin into the cooker, adjust the heat to medium low and bake for 40-45 minutes
  • Use a toothpick to check if it is fully cooked, let the cake cool to room temperature before cutting it. Tada ready to eat.
  • I used some powdered sugar for garnishing




Here is a very super easy dish biryani. When you hear of it you might feel oh my God it is alot of work. Dont be surprised to know how easily it can prepared. so lets begin.

Ingredients (Serves 3)

  • 1 cup rice to cook
  • 1 carrot chopped into medium cubes
  • 1 potato chopped into medium cubes
  • 1/2 cup chopped french beans (medium length)
  • 1/2 cup green peas
  • 1/2 cup chopped cauliflower
  • Fresh Coriander
  • 1/2 cup fried peanuts and cashews
  • 2 crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp ginger chilli paste
  • 1/2 tsp of dhana jeera, tumeric powder and pilau masala
  • 1/4 cup milk, dip a few strands of kesar into it
  • Salt to taste

For the Raita

  • 1 cup homemade curd or packet curd.
  • 1 carrot peeled and grated
  • 1 cucumber peeled and grated
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • A pinch of chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Cumins seeds powder

Mix the above and thats it.


  • First of all cook the rice, drain it and keep aside.
  • Now in a cooker heat oil, add cumin seeds, ginger chilli paste and the tomato paste, let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Add all the chopped veggies and all the species mentioned above along with salt. When the first whistle is about to blow, switch of the gas
  • Now in a glass bowl, put the first layer of rice, followed by the milk with saffron strands,frieds nuts, then the cooked veggies, add another layer of  rice, add the milk saffron mixture, followed by the nuts and corainder
  • Tada it is ready.

There you go, dalwada is the all time snack any where eaten hot hot with super hot fried green chillies is blissful. This is basically a blend of lentils, crushed coarse into makng it a crunhie bunchie snack. So lets begin, well it goes so well with coconut dosa chutney also. I get this from of course my super mom. So lets begin;


  • 1 Cup split green grams
  • 3/4 cup Udad dal (Black lentils without skin)
  • 1/2 cup Chana dal
  • 1/4 cup Chora dal
  • Water to soak them
  • Chopped green chillies
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Ginger chilli paste is optional
  • 1/2 tsp sodabicarb (optional)
  • Oil for deep frying


  • Soak the above over night to maximum 4 hours, if you take green grams with skin, after soaking them make sure to get rid of the skin which shall gently come out.
  • Blend it into a coarse texture, place the mixture into a sieve and let it rest for 2hours, you can also put it in the fridge.
  • Now in a bowl add the blended lentils, along with green chillies, salt and pepper, a pinch of sodabicarb.
  • Heat oil and fry them on medium heat, once the colour changes to brown, remove them and served when hot.




Split green grams Pancakes

Okay let us do some super healthy dish. It is a high protein dish so to the women out there who are anaemic and need to eat healthy should include this at least thrice a week. Super healthy it is so let’s begin. Yet again I get this from my super woman my mommy. Best served when hot.


  • 2 cups split green grams
  • Water to soak them over night
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp. green chilli paste (adjust it to you chilli intake)
  • 1 tsp. ginger paste
  • Water to dilute the batter after coarse grinding it


  • Wash and soak the split green grams overnight, now use your hands to remove the skin, remember you are not supposed to get away with all the skin. Rinse them in water and grind them to a coarse paste.
  • Now add the batter in a bowl, followed by salt, pepper, ginger paste, chilli paste and some water to make it semi thick. You will see in the pic below the thickness to maintain.
  • Now heat a non-stick pan and with a round spatula, pour the batter and spread it round across, making it not too thin or too thick.
  • Cover the non-stick pan, once it steams up, turn it over to cook the front side and tada its ready. Let them turn Golden brown.
  • Note you can use oil to cook them in the pan, well i did not use oil though.

Gobi Manchurian (Cauli Flower Manchurian)

Wow i had never thought that i could actually make these at home. Just that the cauliflower was too much in the house and i thought of experimenting this dish. Surprise surprise it turned out so delicious. So lets begin.

For the frying batter (Most Important)

  • 3 tbsp. all purpose
  • 1/2 tbsp. corn flour
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • Enough water for a semi-thick smooth paste
  • Oil for deep frying

For the Manchurian Masala

  • 2 Cups of cut medium sized cauliflower florets
  • ¼ Cup green capsicum diced big cubes
  • ¼ Cup large diced cabbage leaves
  • 1 tbsp. sesame oil
  • 1-2 tsp. soya sauce
  • 1 tsp. dark soya sauce
  • 1 tsp. tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. chilli sauce
  • 11/2 tsp. Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. corn flour melted in water should be watery say like 7 tbsp. water1tbsp.
  • 1 tsp. Kashmiri red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ cup fresh chopped Cilantro


  • Mix the above for the batter, heat oil, fry them in hot oil reducing to medium high, until they are golden, remove and place them aside.
  • Now in non-stick pan heat oil, add the green capsicum and sauté until cooked, add salt to the mixture.
  • Once the capsicum is cooked, add tomato sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, and the corn flour paste, cook for further 5 to 7 minutes. Once the gravy thickens up, add the fried cauli flower florets and sauté on high flame until the sauce sticks to the Florets.
  • Finally garnish with fresh cilantro and enjoy!



Black Lentil (Dal Makhni)

Here is another healthy Lentil. Well Black Lentils are heavy to digest, hence they keep you full for longer, its thick tecture can be served with roti, rotla and rice also. so here we go.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 cup whole black lentil
  • Handful red beans
  • Ginger chilly paste
  • 1 Tbsp Ghee
  • 1 Tbsp Butter
  • 2 crushed tomatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp dhana jeera powder
  • 1/2 tsp tumeric powder
  • Water
  • Chopped coriander


  • Wash and soak the lentil beans over night, pressure cook them for 5 whistles on low flame.
  • Add tbsp ghee in a pan, once heated add the ginger chilly paste, roast it until its golden brown
  • add the crushed tomato, salt, chilli powder, tumeric powder dhana jeera powder and mix well, let it cook for 7 mins.
  • Add the boiled lentil beans in the pan, add water  and butter bring it to a boil, you will defintely smell the aroma of ghee and butter.
  • Thats ready to serve.
